Breast augmentation uses implants or fat grafting to add volume and create fuller, shapelier breasts while also improving overall body proportions. It can restore lost volume, improve asymmetry, and provide greater projection or upper breast fullness. Results can be subtle or dramatic to suit your preferences.
What breast augmentation doesn’t do is lift significantly drooping breasts. Implants add volume but do not remove loose skin or reposition low-hanging nipples, and they can even make existing sagging more noticeable. If this is a concern, Dr. Mouchantat may recommend a breast lift instead of or along with implants.

Silicone implants contain cohesive silicone gel and are known for a soft, natural look and feel. Saline implants contain sterile salt water and tend to feel firmer, but their volume can be precisely adjusted during surgery. Dr. Mouchantat will help you weigh these differences based on what matters most to you.
Profile covers both the implant’s width and how far it projects forward from the chest. Lower profile implants have a wider base and less projection, while higher profile implants are narrower with greater projection. The right profile will provide the projection you want while fitting the natural dimensions of your chest.
Breast implants come in round or anatomical shapes and with smooth or textured surfaces. The right combination will depend on your natural breast shape, the contour you want, and how the implant will fit within your breast.
Arguably the most important choice you will make. Implant size is measured in cubic centimeters (cc), not cup sizes, and should be considered alongside your chest width, existing breast tissue, skin quality, and implant profile. Together at your consultation, you’ll choose a size that complements your proportions while providing the enhancement you want.

Dr. Mouchantat takes these risks into consideration from the beginning with thoughtful surgical planning, precise creation of the implant pocket, and careful implant handling and placement to help reduce the likelihood of these complications.

You will have a scar, but it won’t be the prominent feature you notice. Dr. Mouchantat uses either an inframammary incision (usually 1.5-2 inches) hidden in the crease beneath the breast or a periareolar incision along the bottom border of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple). Both locations take advantage of natural transitions in breast anatomy to make the resulting scar less noticeable.
For fat transfer, the fat is carefully inserted into the breasts through small injection sites, leaving minimal to no noticeable scarring on the breasts. You will have a few small scars (usually 3 to 10 millimeters long) in the area where fat is extracted. Wherever possible, the liposuction incisions are hidden in natural creases, folds, or along common clothing lines to minimize their appearance.
Scars are initially more prominent, then gradually soften and fade around 3 to 6 months after surgery. Most fully mature, flatten, and blend with the surrounding skin by 12 to 18 months post-op. Final scar appearance is usually discreet but can vary with individual healing, genetics, and skin pigmentation. If you have a history of prominent scars, tell Dr. Mouchantat during your consultation so that he can recommend the best approach for you.
While recovery varies by patient and surgical technique, most women are ready to return to everyday activities relatively quickly.
Expect swelling, tightness, pressure, and soreness. Most implants sit high and feel firm; they will settle over the coming weeks.
Comfort and mobility improve steadily, with most patients no longer needing prescription pain medication. Many return to desk work and light daily activities between 1 and 2 weeks.
Swelling continues to decrease as the breasts soften and settle. Normal daily activity becomes easier, but strenuous exercise is still limited.
Most patients can gradually resume unrestricted exercise and normal activities as cleared. The breasts will continue to settle and refine over the following months.

Yes. Capsular contracture can occur if the scar tissue surrounding an implant tightens excessively, causing the breast to feel unusually firm or hard. This is a possible complication of breast augmentation that Dr. Mouchantat will discuss with you before surgery.
Many women can breastfeed after augmentation. Procedure decisions such as incision location, implant placement, and implant size and profile can impact breastfeeding success. If future breastfeeding matters to you, discuss it with Dr. Mouchantat so it can be considered when planning your procedure.
Temporary changes in nipple or breast sensation can occur after surgery, but often improve as healing progresses. Your anatomy, incision choice, implant size, and tissue stretching can all influence sensation. Permanent changes are possible.
While implants are unaffected by weight loss, the natural breast tissue and fat surrounding them can change. Significant weight loss, including weight lost with GLP-1 medications, may reduce breast fullness and possibly lead to sagging. If you are actively losing weight or hoping to lose a substantial amount of weight in the future, Dr. Mouchantat may recommend postponing your surgery until you are at a stable goal weight.
